Lesson 5- 2/2/10
In today's lesson, my group and I carried on completing the editing that was needed in order to finish the preliminary task. While we were finishing the transitions between each shot we trialled a series a transitions that we thought would work best and then narrowed them down to be completed. When adding the audio to the sequence to which helps the audience to hear what is going on, we realized that the sound that was recorded previously was out of place in contrast to the video. As a group we decided to record the sound of footsteps to complete the sound.
Sam and I collected a camera and in a quite corridor recorded the ambient sound of loud footsteps. In the meantime, when we were carrying on with the filming, Robert had the designated job to cut and make sure that our film sequence flowed easily. After, a few takes of recording the sound, we went back to the capture what we had onto the computer so that we were able to cut and adjust the audio to the way we wanted to.
Next, we opened the audio clip to listen to but found that the sound was not clear enough to be edited on to the sequence. We decided that we had time to film again so we re-filmed the audio. This time it successfully worked, we then cut and edited it to fit the sequence as best we could. The film extract then was more realistic and flowed continuously and hopefully the audience would not get confused. As we were satisfied with what we had, we created a title section and added our names. This way our film can be easily identified.
We converted the sequence to AVI format so that that our end task could be copied onto DVD and played but also which could be uploaded onto YouTube. We uploaded the video on to YouTube so it could be watched. As that was the end of the preliminary task, there was time left to look at other film openings to prepare for the main task.
